TUSTIN, CA, UNITED STATES, October 5, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Eight-Month Competition Quantifies All Ten Dimensions of Human Health — Including 30% of the Winner's Score Based on Charity Fundraising
TUSTIN, Calif. — September 2026 — Most competitions measure one thing. Speed. Strength. Weight loss. Stark Health's Stark Naked Challenge measures ten — and one of them has nothing to do with your body.

The Tustin-based health optimization company has launched what it believes to be the world's first competition built entirely around whole-person health optimization. The Stark Naked Challenge doesn't crown the athlete who lost the most weight or ran the fastest mile. It crowns the competitor who optimized the most — across every dimension of what Stark calls the Wheel of Health.

THE WHEEL OF HEALTH — QUANTIFIED
Stark Health's Wheel of Health is the philosophical and clinical framework at the core of everything the company does. It holds that true health is not a single metric but the sum of ten interconnected spokes: Mental Well-Being, Body Composition, Orthopedic Health, Cardiovascular Health, Nutrients, Strength, Gut Health, Hormones, Detoxification, and Sleep, Recovery & Stress.

For the Stark Naked Challenge, each of the ten spokes is measured and scored at the start and end of the competition — using DEXA body composition scanning and bone mineral density assessment, laboratory panels, fitness testing, and structured self-assessments. Improvement across all ten determines a competitor's standing.

But there's a twist: 30% of a competitor's final score is determined by the amount of money they raise for charity during the competition. "We wanted this to reflect what health optimization is actually for," says Todd Vande Hei, CEO and founder of Stark Health. "You don't get healthy just to look good. You get healthy so you can show up for other people. The charity component makes that explicit."

WHY JANUARY THROUGH AUGUST — THE VACATION THESIS
This year's Stark Naked Challenge ran an extended eight-month format, from January through August — a deliberate design choice rooted in behavioral science and geography.

People in the northern hemisphere are statistically more physically active during summer months. Natural light increases. Outdoor movement increases. Motivation, for most people, peaks between June and August. By ending the competition at the close of summer, Stark ensured that competitors' optional professional photographs — taken to document their physical transformation — would capture results at their peak seasonal expression.

But the more provocative insight behind the extended format is what Vande Hei calls the vacation thesis. "Most health programs fail during the summer, not because people don't care, but because life gets in the way," he says. "Vacations happen. Schedules break. And people come back having lost everything they built."

The Stark Naked Challenge was engineered to pass directly through those disruption points — deliberately. Competitors had to learn how to go on vacation and come back just as healthy, or healthier, than when they left. "That's the real skill," says Vande Hei. "Not performing when conditions are perfect. Performing when they're not. That's when habits get forged."

By threading the competition through summer travel months, Stark didn't just test its competitors' health — it tested whether the changes they made during the competition had become true habits. The ones who arrived at August with their scores intact had done something rare: they had made health optimization a way of life.
